  • Presidential Candidate Statements

  • Legislative Candidates

Proposition 34 established voluntary spending limits for candidates running for state legislative office. Legislative candidates who choose to keep their campaign expenses under these specified dollar amounts may purchase space in county sample ballots for a 250-word candidate statement.

In order to accept or reject the spending limits, legislative candidates must file a Form 501 Candidate Intention Statement with the Secretary of State's Political Reform Division. Candidates who have voluntarily chosen to limit their spending in campaigns for State Senate may spend no more than $724,000 in a primary election and $1,086,000 in a general election. Assembly candidates may spend no more than $483,000 in a primary election and $845,000 in a general election.

Listed below is a list of the Proposition 34 Legislative Candidate Statement Form 501 Status Report for the November 4, 2008 General Election.
