ATTENTION UCC CUSTOMERS:

In order to prevent identity theft and protect the personal privacy of people whose information appears in the documents filed with the Secretary of State (SOS), social security numbers have been removed ("redacted") from all copies and electronic images of UCC records filed prior to December 31, 2007 made available to the public. In addition, the SOS is redacting any social security number provided on a record filed on paper after January 1, 2008. UCC filings are public records. Please do not put people at risk of identity theft by including social security numbers on any documents for filing with the Secretary of State.

In accordance with the revisions to the California Uniform Commercial Code and filing office practices and procedures, the California Secretary of State's office has adopted the following forms to be used exclusively. All other forms, including the National Transitional UCC forms, are obsolete and will be rejected by the filing office. New forms are available in PDF file format and can be viewed and printed from your computer using the most current version of the Adobe Reader (available for free from Adobe's website). Fees for all UCC filings and services can also be found on our Uniform Commercial Code Fee Schedule.

FILING TIPS

This office will only accept the National Financing Statement (UCC1) and the National Financing Statement Amendment (UCC3) and the California revised National filing forms, which black out the social security number boxes. The Addendum (UCC1Ad and UCC3Ad) and the Additional Party forms (UCC1AP and UCC3AP) should only be completed and submitted with the UCC1 or UCC3 if they are needed to record additional debtors and/or secured parties. Note: The Additional Party forms may be used to record additional debtors and/or secured parties when filing Judgment Liens and Attachment Liens, as well.

Please send the original document only. An acknowledgment letter and image of the original document will be returned to you as the acknowledgment copy for each accepted filing. To request a debtor search certificate at the time of filing, mark box 7 on the UCC1 form and send an additional copy, clearly marked “Search Copy” along with the additional fee.
